AKI-MATSURI - FESTA D’AUTUNNO
MOSAUTAL 3-4 OTTOBRE 2009

Presentation of the new site

I am most proud to present this 'new look'.

A sincere thanks is due to Claudio Cofani who has taken care of the site until now and for his infinite patience in passing things over (pass the 'staffetta' an Italian expression as in a relay race)

Firstly I hope you find the graphics pleasant.  However as we all know, the important thing is the contents which, step by step, we will add to our site.

If you are accustomed to the Internet world, you will be aware of the many excellently done forums and sites concerning the bonsai world.  I, in comparison,  appear as a  humble beginner  but  am sure that if we all collaborate together, as part of the same School, we shortly will not be envious.

The intention of our site is not to teach but to share, with the people entering this new world as beginners, the thrill and passion of this wonderful art and to rekindle the flame for those who might feel their interest is dwindling.

For this reason I ask you to be patient if, at the beginning, the contents is of a general nature and furthermore ask those who have the time to help me with  their suggestions, ideas and, why not, their criticism. I can assure you that everything will be considered and by so doing we might even enrich our knowledge.

I also need help with the translations into foreign languages because I  will have great difficulty for the French and German versions: if anyone feels they can help please don't hesitate to contact me!

Two sessions have been created: Instructors and Students in which I hope everyone will participate as well as a discussion forum in the intent that it will become our reference point.

Lastly: enjoy yourselves but do not spend too much time surfing our site and so forget to water your own trees!

The Scuola d’Arte Bonsai

The Scuola d’Arte Bonsai is a cultural no profit Association, officially founded in 1992, aiming to spread the traditional Japanese techniques of Bonsai art.

The didactic programme, completed in eight years of study, is subdivided into four stages - corresponding to the four levels:

1st   level – elementary (2 years)

2nd  level – intermediate (2 years)

3rd  level – superior  (2 years)

4th level –  to qualify as an Instructor (2 years)

Students have to pass an examination in order to qualify to pass on to the successive level.

At the end of the 16th course, on passing the examination, students receive a diploma from the Scuola d’Arte Bonsai as well as a diploma from the Federation of the Japanese Bonsai School with which the European School is twinned.
